RDA stands for Riding for the Disabled and is the a national association under which all RDA groups are affiliated.

2. What does SSA mean?
SSA is the Side Saddle Association

3. What are the Paralympics?
The Paralympics is the Olympic gathering of disabled athletes and is held every four years at the same venue and just after the Olympics.

4. Do you have posters I can display?
We currently have a selection of colourful business cards, postcards and A4 posters for use on notice boards and to give out. If you think you could find a home for some please let us know.

5. How can I become a volunteer?
Firstly, have a chat to us about our group and activities. You will then be invited to visit the group and see a session in action. If you are still interested, you will then be asked to fill in a volunteer application form that covers you for our insurance and we arrange for a CRB check, as you will be involved with disabled children and adults! Once you are a volunteer we then arrange on going and regular training for you – about being a helper, horses and even some ridden work if you are interested!

6. What do people with a disability gain from riding?
Riding builds and restores confidence and offers the chance to gain new skills. In many cases it is also therapeutic.

7. Why is side saddle riding so special?
Side saddle is an exceptionally safe method of riding. The rider is to some extent locked into the saddle by the two curved heads that fit around the riders legs. This means that riders, who, because of disabilities find it difficult and even unsafe to ride a horse using a standard saddle can be offered the chance to develop their skills to a high level and perhaps even compete in the Paralympics. People who have polio, MS, Cerebral palsy or any injuries that affect the legs or spine will benefit from learning to ride side saddle.

8. How can I keep in contact with your activities?
Every quarter we realise a newsletter and you can receive this either by email, download it from the Tradissar site or pick it up from the group directly.

9. Is there anyway I can help?
We are always looking for people that can help with fundraising efforts! Could you take items to a car boot sale for us or host a raffle? How about organising a coffee morning! It all helps and everyone has some friends who are different from others. Extending the circle we touch is also a huge help as you never know how could make a donation or be a volunteer!
