Tradissar
Tradissar (TRAining the Disabled in Side-Saddle Riding) was set up in the Autumn of 2007 and has already grown and developed from our original vision. As a registered charity (Registered Charity No 1117937) it means that we have to find all our funds by applying for grants, sponsorship, donations and organising fund raising events and appeals constantly.
Now based at Crofton Manor Equestrian Centre in Stubbington, near Fareham in Hampshire. We meet each week and offer the chance for a large number of riders to enjoy the pleasures and freedom that horse riding and in particular side saddle can offer.
We welcome riders with a variety of problems and from all age groups. Tradissar was setup by our founder Rayna Matthews to help people that wanted to ride but struggled to or found it impossible riding astride! After a long challenging struggle herself Rayna decided to setup a group to help like minded people experience the opportunities that riders has brought to her.
We meet every week at Crofton Manor Equestrian Centre near Stubbington, Fareham, Hampshire. Each week we have a number of riders (with a waiting list too, currently) who ride both using side-saddle and astride with a great team of helpers too. The abilities of our riders varies from complete beginners’, to returning riders and those interested in competitions.
Our Aims
The aim of Riding for the Disabled (RDA) is to provide people with a disability, the opportunity to ride and enjoy all the activities connected with horse riding. Riding for people with a disability is both therapeutic and recreational. The RDA is in fact one of the few organisations who offer a multi-diagnostic service, catering for a wide range of disabilities.
Our Objectives
1. To provide disabled people with the means to ride at the level of their ability, choice and ambition.
2. To acquire, manage and support the resources: people, ponies, horses, facilities and finance to achieve the objectives.
3. To make available suitable training.
